I like the demons. They have character. The one on (my) left is going "yeah, let's see what you've got, kid", the one in the middle looks nervous and the one on (my) right is explaining something to him.
Knight, Val: What is he seeing? What caused that look on his face? Is it fear? Awe? Both? What is that glow around him? It makes me want to know more.
Sarah: She holds her body with such pride but her face is turned away and seems a little sad. Why? Is she alone? Is someone watching her? What is she feeling, thinking?
The Three Demons: There's so much going on in that piece that it's hard to know where to start. What are they talking about? Who's trying to convince who to do what? Who has the upper hand? What happens next?
Moonscape is just beautiful. And peaceful.
Watching the Sun, watching the Moon. You can kind of get lost in that piece. I'm not sure what Adam wanted it to be but it takes on a life of its own for me and becomes something else from moment to moment. Does that make any sense?
KDM3Taru: The three way confrontation of REV 6:8 takes on a different meaning in this wallpaper the way it's set up. What is that meaning? Who is Taru? Why is she waiting? There's more to that story and I'd like to know.
Knight, Val: I saw the pic from First Knight (which also had Alexis Denisof, so I'm happy there), and the look was just calling to... one of those "I SEE GOD" and Knight-Templar and all that. All these late night theology discussions must've helped.
Sarah: this is the original (http://slick.org/Postcards/OldNudes/VN18.jpg). The pose was so pretty, and the pic was so *not*. I had to... I dunno, play with it. Clean her up.
The Three Demons: this is the original (http://www.artatlarge.com/pages/NITKE2004/NITKEimg04/ThreeMenInATub.jpg). The companionship is what made me wanna draw this at first; I thought to combine the body and do a three-headed monster. But then I somehow ended up with three different demonguys. They're all friends, in my opinion, but anyone can have their look.
Watching the Sun, watching the Moon. Partly it's one of those "two faces or a vase?" pics, only not quite.
KDM3Taru: Taru is a part of a 'verse I was writing - still writing, just not posting. I love her and don't mind babbling, but it's an old thing. Let's say it's like a chemistry experiment: you take the three guys in that moment, combine the explosive essences, and see what comes out...
And all in all, I know this is an answer to Cat, but thank you for the really kind words and the art-analysis. Is feel good.
You draw the curtain, so to speak, and reveal the sources of the pieces, but these sources have very little to do with the effect of the end result of your work on the viewer. And that is part of the art.
Thanks for answering. I like how things get viewed differently. I get some of those questions, but they're not forefront in my mind. My reaction mostly focuses on the vibe, the atmosphere, the composition. The girl's image looks peaceful to me, she seems comfortable and stretching like a cat, tired maybe or awaking. It did not occur to me to think if someone else was around. I love the energy between the demons, but I didn't actually wonder what they were talking about. And I know who Taru is. She's waiting for them all, I think, to stop bickering.
To me, all art is a kind of visual story. Maybe because I'm a writer at heart. Every element in a piece adds to the overall tale that is being told. Some art is just a moment captured in time and is thus, while beautiful, basically static. A lot of Adam's works have a great deal of movement or visual elements that are intriguing and lead me to wonder about the "bigger picture". What's going on here? Why is that there? Who's just outside the frame? It's very interesting. And fun. :)
Much love for all of these, especially Sarah, Threesome and Moonscape. I want to write something that sounds all clever and whatnot, but right now I'm exhauseted and can only mutter an awed 'Oh, preeeety.' I'm afraid.
