Title: Blood Rituals
Fandom: Firefly
Characters: Zoe
Reason:
caia_comica said "first blood" and my mind went places. Oops.
First time she bled Zoe was terrified. Not that she showed it to anyone, the fear; but she didn't know what this strange thing was and why it was happening to her.
"Mama, mama!"
She hadn't run to her mama like this since she was a tiny toddler, but she had a sneaking suspicion that mama would know what it was, and what to do. And mama knew. She told Zoe the bleedin' made her a woman. She told her it's something to be proud of.
Later in life there were people who tried to convince Zoe that bleedin' and wars were men's business. She just looked at them very coldly and said nothin'. And sometimes she shot some of them, when they had it comin'. But she knew, she knew all along. The bleedin' was her business. She'd make sure Wash never had to bleed.
