silvercobwebs, "Duncan/Kronos, the Rev AU"
"You're history," Duncan says and hits forward with more strength than grace, and the sword flies from Kronos' hands, clanks on the cement and flops overboard to the water, making a splash and disappearing forever.
Enraged, and too close to losing for his own comfort, Kronos charges with a snarl on his lips. Duncan answers with a growl and lunges forward, and the two warriors clash like rams. Duncan manages to get the hilt of his sword in Kronos' face, causing blood to gush out of his nose and mouth. The ancient man curses at him, foam and blood mixed on his lips. Down below, smoke begins to curl around Methos as he stands over his fallen brother's dead body.
It's in that very moment that Duncan realises - it sinks in as heavily as the old sword in the murky water of the submarine base - he realises just how close Kronos was once to Methos, just how close he came to have him again. Recent days, high emotions, swirl in his head and mix with recent years, his friendship with Methos tainted by this man; with a primal growl, Duncan pounces on Kronos one last time, grabs him by the hair, and smashes their mouths together.
It's mostly blood and teeth, surprise and then anger, but Duncan doesn't let go, and he's the only one with a sword. Kronos fights, but stills when the sword nicks his shoulder blade and presses cold against his throat. Eyes open and full of hate, he stares forward while Duncan kisses him, claims him in a moment of clarity within the rage.
It's only after Kronos' mouth slackens that Duncan stops, only after he gives way, however minutely. That's when he notices the eerie quiet, no more screams, no more swords clashing together. He steps back, keeping a cautious hand on his sword, and risks a quick glance towards Methos. The old one is shocked, his quickening long over, watching the two men above him. When he looks back at Kronos, Duncan sees more than anger in his eyes.
"I think," he says, his voice less than steady, "that things are going to change from now on."
