Title: Like Lambs
Fandom: Buffy
Characters: Giles, Ethan
Summary: looks can be deceiving
"Lost little lamb."
Those words surfaced into Ethan's mind when he first saw Ripper. The newcomer was trying to appear tough, all leather and attitude and a fierce nickname. Some were fooled by it, but not Ethan. He could see underneath; something shy and verging on innocent that could be touched and played with and corrupted, and maybe afterwards, when there isn't an inch left untainted, something to be coddled and treasured. Ethan had an eye for that sort of thing. Of course, he didn't know he was getting much more in the bargain.
"He wasn't a lamb at all, was he," he muses. "He was a wolf in sheep's skin, and the sheep was pretending to be a wolf. He always had more than meets the eye."
Corny, but correct.
He approached, talked to the bad boy wannabe. Ended the night head over heels, almost literally. Stayed the morning. Returned that evening. When you're young and you meet someone, you never stop and think, "my whole life just changed completely". You can't see this far - well, you can't see far when you're older, either, but then you have less far to see. Ethan just thought he found someone to be with. After a long while, he admitted that maybe he found someone to care about. Never for a moment did the thought cross his mind that he found someone to alter the course of his life.
"Never fall for a bad boy who is worse than yourself," he says. "Especially ones who look too good to be true."
