Dear Rupert,
...No, scratch that. To the Respectable Mr Giles,

Dear, dear Rupert. I am writing this letter as an exercise, and you will never see it. I hope. There's always a chance that when I die my belongings will be sent to you as last known contact, seeing as most of my other contacts have no legal addresses. Knowing Chaos, there's a chance my property and real-estate will be left to you somehow, as I have no young next of kin. That I know of.
If you ever do see this letter, disregard it. There is nothing here I want you to read.
You must think your grudge against me is justified. You must think you'll never forgive me. But here's the thing, Ripper, I don't seek or need your forgiveness. I just think you might need mine.
I forgive you, Rupert Giles. For being who you are, and for doing what you felt was right. It's harder to forgive the times when you're not being who you are, and the times when what you did was completely beyond understanding, at least for me. Still, I forgive. The path you chose - whether it could be avoided or not - is your problem in life, not mine.
I forgive you for abandoning magic.
I forgive you for making me love you. I forgive that it didn't matter to you, in the end.
I forgive the beatings. I forgive the two months' rent you owed me since the 1970s, that I never intended to collect. I forgive the time you kissed me, reeking of alcohol, and whispered some other tart's name.
This does have a tinge of ritual in it, doesn't it? I forgive. I release. I invoke...
I invoke nothing, Rupert, fret not. These words are harmless. As far as I know.
