He reaches a hand and dabs under Kaylee's eye, where the grease left a black mark. Instead of helping her clean it, he finds that he only smeared it further down her face, and on his hand.

"I just... let me get it," she says, almost shy, and rubs her cheek with the back of her hand. That doesn't help at all.

"You've got all..." And then the sentence stutters off because his gaze wanders down, and where her shirt opens to reveal just the hint of her breasts, there's also grease.

"...over you," he finishes, some time later. She smiles up at him, expectant.

... Her overalls on the floor, black handprints in strategic places. His formerly-pristine white shirt. Her body covered with crude finger-painting made in oil. His hair's a mess. They kiss and taste each other and the machines, each other and sex and Serenity.
