In the beginning, there were Rituals. Planned and structured, they involved certain words, certain acts, and at times they needed sexual energy, the kind achieved with touch, with...
Well, sex.
"Juice," Ethan would say, and they would charge themselves in each other's arms. The magic was higher, getting warmer with their need. The focus of these exercises was at first spiritual, mental.
And then they started finding subtle, and not-so-subtle, excuses. This God had to be given a sacrifice. This demon had to be summoned. This Ritual had to be done because... because...
Because it's what they wanted. They couldn't do without. Not anymore.
The rituals got more and more complex, the sex hotter and hotter. Rupert would go into Ethan's room and say,
"Uh, do you want to?...."
And Ethan would sit up, fast and graceful as a feline, and say "Yes." And beckon his friend into the room, onto the bed.
Wasn't long before Rupert didn't care about the magic all that much.
