I think part of the problem here is fandom_counts. I think it proved that we're not that big a part of LJ and that they can ignore 34,000 squeaky wheels in favor of the 2,966,000 other customers.
Will ponder all this as I drive. Am off to Boulder for new hiking boots and a day with friends.
